A friend's silly prank about terrorism and a bomb got a Singaporean businessman arrested by police, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The businessman, who declined to be named, said he was buying a bus ticket at the Gold Mile Tower in Singapore at about 10pm on Monday when the friend called him.

"He told me that he also wanted to get a bus ticket to Kuala Lumpur and asked to speak to the ticket-seller. However over the phone, my friend 'warned' the seller to be wary of me as I was a terrorist from Dubai and I had a bomb in my bag," said the businessman, adding that he only learnt of the conversation from the ticket-seller later.

The bomb threat sent policemen scurrying to scan the surroundings of the commercial complex and the businessman's bag.

The joke not only caused him to miss his business trip to Kuala Lumpur, but also to be arrested by the police to assist in investigations.

Though furious with his friend, the businessman said he would leave the case to the police.
