Furniture mall partners animal shelters to find homes for abandoned dogs

SINGAPORE - IKEA is partnering with local animal shelters Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD) and Animal Lovers League (ALL) to reach out to animal lovers by placing standees of dogs in its stores to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of homeless dogs.

In line with its vision to create a better everyday life at home, IKEA will spearhead the Home for Hope campaign to extend its belief to help better the lives of animals.

"IKEA provides ideas and solutions for homes, but sometimes, it takes more than a good piece of furniture to complete the home. We hope that this unique initiative will reach out to our customers, tug their heartstrings, and encourage them to adopt a pet and brighten the lives of these dogs," said Ms Caroline Ng, Marketing Manager of IKEA Singapore.

From today until June 6, the room sets at IKEA Tampines and IKEA Alexandra will host the standees of 26 different dogs from SOSD and ALL, the largest number hosted by a retail store.

These life-like cut-outs of dogs up for adoption will be exclusively "living" in room sets at both IKEA stores for three weeks.

Each dog has a unique QR code tagged to its collar, which will lead interested shoppers and adopters directly to the adoption site (www.homeforhope.sg) for further details.
