Gardens by the Bay wins Thea Award

SINGAPORE - Gardens by the Bay has been selected as one of 13 recipients of the international Thea Awards, alongside other attractions such as Walt Disney World Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan.

Regarded as the Oscars of the attractions industry, the Thea Awards are presented by international alliance Themed Entertainment Association.

Gardens by the Bay will receive the award at the 20th Annual Thea Awards Gala on April 5, in California, in the US.

"While most of the awards we have garnered so far relate to design, architecture and engineering, the Thea Award honours creative excellence in the attractions and entertainment arena.

"It is a wonderful recognition of the team's hard work, since opening in June 2012, in making every visit to the Gardens a delightful experience for our visitors," said Dr Kiat W. Tan, chief executive of Gardens by the Bay.

Other international awards received by the gardens include World Building of the Year 2012 and the RIBA Lubetkin Prize in the UK for best new international building of 2013.
