Govt may do more to deter littering and protect environment

SINGAPORE - The Government is reviewing penalties against litterbugs, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Saturday.

Also under review: the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint.

It is being updated with new programmes such as building environmentally-friendly hawker centres and reducing carbon emissions, he said at the launch of the annual Clean and Green Campaign at Serangoon Central.

Mr Lee also handed out environmental awards.
