'He will even scold you for just looking at him'

SINGAPORE - In his week of living in Block 8 at St George's Lane, the killer-litter suspect had scolded at least two of his new neighbours for leaving their flowerpots in the corridor.

A 13-year-old girl who lives next door to the suspect said he had moved in last Thursday with a woman believed to be in her 40s. Their relationship is not known.

The girl, who declined to be named, said the man had told her family to move their flowerpots from the common corridor or he would call the police.

She heard the man shouting at the woman and chasing her out of the flat three days ago. Her family has not seen the woman since. "We are very afraid of him," she said. "He will even scold you for just looking at him."

She said the man usually went out in the evening and returned early the next morning.

Another neighbour, who lives two units away from the man, had a similar experience over her flowerpots along the corridor in front of her flat.

She was watering her plants on Christmas Day when he confronted her over the pots. The cleaner in her 70s, who wanted to be known only as Madam Soh, said he sounded angry and threatened to call the police, but she ignored him and went into her unit.

Describing him as a strange man, she recalled an incident on Thursday morning while she was watering her plants.

He had approached her and asked for water to wash his dirty feet before entering his home.

"I asked him why he wasn't wearing shoes and he said that he hadn't bought any shoes yet," Madam Soh said with a laugh.
