YOU may think a man wearing a belt made of iPhones is trying to show off, but in this case, he was trying to smuggle them across the border.
The man from Hong Kong was caught smuggling 146 iPhones by Customs officers at Luohu checkpoint in Shenzhen, in southern China's Guangdong province, last Friday.
He had strapped 126 iPhones to his waist and 20 more to his legs in an attempt to smuggle them from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, the Guangzhou-based Yangcheng Evening News reported on Wednesday.
Investigations revealed that the man had been caught four times since 2011 for smuggling electronic products. He had smuggled a total of 511 iPhones and 127 central processing units in the five times that he was caught.
In an earlier report, another man was caught smuggling 94 iPhones strapped to his body by Customs officers in Shenzhen on Jan 11.
