Hoong Wee Teck takes over as top cop

SINGAPORE - Mr Hoong Wee Teck took over as Commissioner of Police from Mr Ng Joo Hee in a change of command ceremony at the Home Team Academy yesterday.

Mr Hoong, 51, has served in the Singapore Police Force for 27 years, holding various leadership positions, including that of Director of the Criminal Investigation Department and Commander of Bedok Police Division.

He said: "It is a great honour to be in this position to lead a force of highly committed and professional men and women."

Mr Ng, 48, who led the police force for close to five years, will take over as chief executive of PUB, the national water agency.

He will also be Deputy Secretary (Special Duties) in the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.
