I hope S'poreans can be proud of me

Q&A with The Apprentice Asia finalist Andrea Loh

Although finalist Andrea Loh did not win The Apprentice Asia, the 24-year-old civil-and-commercial litigator says she's proud to have flown the Singapore flag.

My Paper speaks to Ms Loh about her experience on the reality-TV show.

What do you think of Jonathan Yabut's win?

I obviously would have wanted it to be me, but there is no other contestant I would have preferred losing to than Jonathan, who is going to be a special friend for life.

I'm disappointed (in myself), but proud of him.

What was the first thing that went through your mind when Mr Tony Fernandes announced the winner?

I didn't want to believe it. (I thought:) "No, it cannot be."

How did your friends and family react after they watched the finale?

Messages were pouring in from all over the world. All my friends overseas were tuning in and Googling the results.

It's been an overwhelming response, not only from family and friends, but also from fans who have been amazing and (their support has been) overwhelming.

I hope Singaporeans will be proud of this, especially in the month of August, when we should be celebrating all things Singaporean (because of National Day).

I have flown the flag with pride and I hope Singaporeans can see this and be happy about it.

Did you expect to have come this far?

To be completely honest, I did not. I quickly realised that a lot of the contestants were very experienced, and I (was confident that) I would make it to the top half, but I think my biggest surprise was making it past the interview round.

To make it to the final two was the biggest shock.

What are your plans now?

I need to sit down and re-evaluate what I want to do. I've learnt a lot from the competition and all of us are ready for a change.

If there was one thing you could change in your experience, what would it be?

I would have fought harder in the final boardroom interview. It would have made a difference.
