Jobless man gets 6 months jail after bashing and cheating wife's lover

When he found out his wife was having an affair, he met her lover to talk things out.

But there was more action than talk as Yazid Ab Rahman clobbered the other man. A few months later, he cheated him of almost $3,000.

In 2012, Yazid's wife got to know a deliveryman, Mr Abdul Hamid Md Jana, 27, through Facebook and they became lovers soon after.

On April 3 last year, Yazid, who found out about the affair, arranged to meet Mr Abdul Hamid at the void deck of Block 231, Jurong East Street 21 at around 3am to sort things out.

PUNCHED

A scuffle broke out when Yazid punched Mr Abdul multiple times on the face.

The following month, his wife realised she was pregnant and told her boyfriend about her condition.

Court papers did not mention who the baby's father was. The New Paper understands she suffered a miscarriage.

On July 1 last year, Yazid lied to Mr Abdul Hamid, claiming his wife aborted the baby, before duping the younger man into giving him $2,880 in several instalments, via bank transfers and cash payments.

The 33-year-old jobless man was jailed for six months yesterday after pleading guilty to one count each of cheating and voluntarily causing hurt.

One count of criminally intimidating Mr Abdul Hamid was taken into consideration during sentencing.

For cheating, Yazid could have been jailed up to 10 years and fined. For causing hurt, he could have been jailed for up to two years and fined up to $5,000.
