Judge perturbed by moral corruption of boy

A former IT specialist was yesterday jailed for six months for making a minor have sex with an older girl before going on to engage in a threesome.

During sentencing, District Judge Victor Yeo said he was particularly perturbed by the fact that there was moral corruption of a 15- year-old boy.

The man, who cannot be named, pleaded guilty last month to one charge of making the boy have sex with an 18-year-old girl on the pretext of helping with a photo shoot.

As he passed the sentence, Judge Yeo noted that the boy was a virgin before the incident.

"This offence is a serious one and the fact that the accused didn't engage in sexual activity with the minor is a minor one given the facts of the case," he said.

Judge Yeo added that he agreed with the prosecution that the offence was equivalent to one of having sex with a minor.

According to court documents, the former IT specialist, who is originally from India, had put up an advertisement on an adult forum in 2012.

It said: "Hoping to fulfil my girlfriend's fantasies; seeking an extra man."

The 15-year-old boy, a student in a secondary school, responded to the advertisement, saying he was 18. He agreed to help "fulfil" the girlfriend's fantasies.

The man's "girlfriend" was, in fact, an 18-year-old model whom the man, a photography enthusiast, had worked with on previous photo shoots.

Some time between October and November 2012, the boy met the man and his "girlfriend" in the lobby of a hotel near City Hall and proceeded to a room the man had booked.

There, the accused instructed the model to pose while he took pictures.

UNDRESS

He then asked the model to undress the boy and continued taking pictures.

Despite his discomfort, the boy kept mum and the man assured him that the pictures were for personal use.

The man made the two undress and perform various sex acts while he photographed them. At some point, he joined them on the bed, gave the boy a box of condoms and told him to have sex with the girl.

He left his camera on timer mode and it continued taking pictures of the acts.

The pictures later surfaced in an online forum where they remain till today. The boy was also identified in the forum.

After the sentence was passed, the man's lawyer, Mr Vinit Chhabra, asked for his sentence to be deferred to Monday so he could settle his personal affairs as he did not have any family members here.

Judge Yeo agreed. The man has to surrender himself to the State Courts on Monday at 9.30am.
