Keep Borders' high-street feel

Keep Borders' high-street feel

Akshita Nanda's article, EMF Bookstore Reopens At One-North (Life!, May 9), mentioned that the newly opened Borders store in Jurong will become a Popular store.

Borders was a "high-street" lifestyle bookshop with a cafeteria and restaurant - it attracted book lovers by allowing them to browse, linger and take their time to make purchases.

It also had a wide variety of books not found elsewhere.

I treasure a few books that I bought at the former Borders bookstore, which other book shops were reluctant to stock.

My son, too, holds on to a special book I ordered from the former Borders.

I hope the owners remember the DNA of Borders and its relationship with loyal customers when they reopen a full-fledged Borders store in Singapore.
