Lawrence Wong to discuss cultural cooperation in S Korea

SINGAPORE - Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Lawrence Wong, will be attending the 1st Korea-Southeast Asian Culture Ministers Meeting between from September 5 to September 6 in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.

During the visit, Mr Wong will meet with his counterparts from South Korea as well as the nine other ASEAN countries, to discuss the promotion of sustainable cultural cooperation and preservation of cultural heritage.

Other areas that may be discussed include sharing of cultural resources, development of culture and artistic expertise, and facilitating joint-creation/production efforts.

The discussions will culminate in the signing of a cultural agreement which aims to promote and enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the signatory countries.

Mr Wong is currently the Chairperson for ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts (AMCA). He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, the National Heritage Board and the National Arts Council.
