Learn, dine and shop at new mall

Two things are close to Singaporeans' hearts: Food and education.

A new mall in Tanjong Katong promises to bring a greater variety of both to locals.

OneKM, which prides itself as a "knowledge mall", boasts a cluster of enrichment schools: MindChamps Reading & Writing, Heguru Education Centre, Juzmusic, Global Art, Taekwondonomics, I Can Read Learning Centre, Ingenium Learning Centre and Magic Fiddler Artz Academia.

The eight education-focused facilities are among the over 150 shops that will be joining well known brands like Uniqlo and Esprit at the mall.

The 204,000 sq ft mall's anchor tenants are supermarket chain Cold Storage and foodcourt chain Food Junction.

The mall - situated at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Geylang Road and about 500m from Paya Lebar MRT Station - was officially opened yesterday by Fatimah Lateef, an MP for Marine Parade GRC.

The mall might be new but patrons will find familiar favourites such as Crocs, adidas, OldTown White Coffee and Paradise Dynasty.

Paradise Dynasty, under Paradise Group Holdings, has launched two new concept eateries at OneKm: Thai restaurant ParaThai and Beauty In The Pot, which specialises in steamboat.

About a third of the mall's tenants are in the food-and-beverage industry and it is already seeing many excited patrons as Tanjong Katong is well known as a food lovers' haunt.

"I live in the vicinity and now there are more air-conditioned dining options for me if I want to eat out with my family," said customer-service officer Vincent Chee, 29.
