Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism to run workshops for parents of preschoolers

Parents who are looking for ways of making learning languages fun for their preschool children will now be able to receive tips through a series of community workshops made possible by the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism.

The workshops will be conducted by language professionals and practitioners in English as well as the three official Mother Tongue languages, said the Fund on Tuesday.

During these workshop sessions, parents will learn how to use finger puppets, songs and games to help their children listen and speak better.

Minister for Education and Chairman of the Board of the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism Mr Heng Swee Keat said: "Bilingualism is the cornerstone of our education system and what better way for our children to start early and learn in ways that are fun and meaningful."

He also expressed his hope for parents to pick up useful tips during the workshop series and be able to teach their children both English as well as their Mother Tongue language.

The Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism will be organising more community workshops in different parts of Singapore throughout the year.

Parents who are interested can register for the upcoming series of workshops at the Tampines Central Community Club or via the OnePA website at https://one.pa.gov.sg.
