Local street dance group wins international title

SINGAPORE - Local street dance group did Singapore proud when it won an international street dance title earlier this month.

The group NRA Legacy, made up of the alumnus of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, beat other international acts to win the title in the Monster Division of the World Supremacy Battlegrounds Dance Competition held in Melbourne, Australia.

The dance competition is said to be the biggest and most prestigious international street dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere and has around for 10 years now. This year, some 50 teams from 11 countries namely Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Guam, Taiwan, Singapore, Brunei and Thailand gathered for the competition.

NRA Legacy was proudly supported by the National Arts Council (NAC). National Youth Council (NYC), Ngee Ann Polytechnic Consumer Co-operative and L'Oreal Singapore had also pledged their support to NRA Legacy as sponsors.

Formed last year, NRA Legacy is a dance group that aims to encourage more youths to appreciate street dancing.

As part of NYC's initiative to support youth aspirations in developing their areas of interest, NRA Legacy together with NYC will be planning a series of dance workshops, Little Red Dot Vol 1, for the youths in Singapore.

NRA Legacy also won the Championship title in a local street dance competition "Super 24" last year, an initiative supported by the National Youth Council, organised by O School.
