Lost and found: Winning 4-D tickets

Lost some 4-D lottery tickets lately? You may have won $5,445.

A woman picked up five lottery tickets at a walkway near Block 108, Tampines Street 11, on Saturday evening. Now, she is looking for their owner.

Among the tickets, two carried the winning numbers for the top prize, second prize and a consolation prize from that day's draw.

Madam Zeng Yanqiu, a 47-year-old service worker at a hotel, was on her way home when she spotted the tickets around 5.15pm.

"I thought someone had thrown them away, but then I realised it was for that day's draw and the bets had been placed just 15 minutes ago. I waited there for 20 minutes, but nobody came to look for the tickets so I took them home," she told Lianhe Wanbao on Sunday.

That night, her 21-year-old daughter reminded her to check the draw's results. To her surprise, she found that the tickets had won $5,445.

She rushed to a neighbourhood police post to lodge a report, and contacted Lianhe Wanbao to look for the winner.

Asked why she did not keep the money, she replied: "This is quite a lot of money and I believe the owner of the tickets would be feeling very anxious.

"It's a basic principle - this money is not mine to keep."
