Madam Halimah Yacob to be re-nominated as Speaker of Parliament

SINGAPORE - Madam Halimah Yacob will be re-nominated as Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister's Office said on Monday (Sept 28).

The PMO statement also said that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has decided on the following appointments, which will take effect from Oct 1:

- Leader of the House: Ms Grace Fu who takes over from Dr Ng Eng Hen. She will be the new Minister for Culture, Community & Youth (MCCY).

- Deputy Leader of the House: Mr Desmond Lee Ti-Seng, who takes over from Mr Heng Chee How. Mr Lee will be Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and National Development.

- Government Whip: Mr Chan Chun Sing, who takes over from Mr Gan Kim Yong. He continues to be Minister in the PMO.

- Deputy Whip: Ms Sim Ann and Mr Sam Tan. They will replace Dr Teo Ho Pin and Dr Amy Khor. Ms Sim Ann will be Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and MCCY, while Mr Tan will be Minister of State in the PMO and in the Ministry of Manpower.

Parliament convenes again in January.
