Male body found at Punggol Waterway

SINGAPORE - A man's body was retrieved from the water at Punggol Waterway on Tuesday, citizen journalism website Stomp reported today.

An spokesperson from SCDF told the website that it had been alerted to a rescue incident at around 10:30pm on Tuesday.

The man was pronounced dead by paramedics on site.

According to Stomp contributor Andy, some men and women were seen with their hands tied behind their backs.

Later, rescue workers who found the body tried to perform CPR on the man but resuscitation attempts failed.

According to Stomp, police also confirmed that 13 men and eight women were arrested for willful trespass at the scene.

The commotion which attracted many onlookers ended at around midnight, another Stomp contributor said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
