Man, 39, arrested for theft of lorry

The police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft along Penjuru Road.

On July 6, the victim informed the police that he had discovered items which did not belong to him in his lorry as well as fresh damages on the vehicle's exterior.

The victim believed that an unknown person had driven his lorry away from Penjuru Road, the location where he had parked the vehicle the previous night.

Officers from Jurong Division conducted investigations and established the identity of the suspect. They arrested the man along Clementi Avenue 5 on Oct 8 at 2.10pm.

If convicted of theft of a motor vehicle, the suspect will face a jail term of up to 7 years and will also be liable to a fine.

To prevent a similar occurrence, the police reminds vehicle owners to:

- Park your vehicle in well-lit areas;

- Remove the ignition key and lock the motor vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short moment;

- Install an anti-theft alarm
