Man arrested for allegedly snatching 9-year-old's phone

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly snatched a phone from a 9-year-old boy as he was walking on a overhead bridge.

According to police, the boy was walking towards Nicoll Highway and using his mobile phone at the same time.

The suspect allegedly walked towards him from the opposite direction and snatched his mobile phone. After he fled, the victim approached a passer-by who called the police.

Officers subsequently arrested the suspect along Aljunied Road on the same day. A mobile phone was recovered and seized.

Investigations are on-going.

The police advises parents, guardians or caregivers of young children to ensure young children are accompanied at all times and to make sure they are not left out of sight.
