Man arrested for loanshark harassment

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 26-year-old man, suspected of loanshark harassment, at 11pm on August 5 at Yishun Central.

He is believed to have scrawled loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of the HDB blocks, splashed paint on the door of a debtor and affixed a bicycle lock on a debtor's gate in Admiralty Drive and Sembawang Drive.

He will be charged in Court for loanshark harassment under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years and mandatory caning of up to six strokes.
