Man arrested for molest on train

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty on board a train on the Circle Line.

On June 7, a 22-year-old woman lodged a police report, saying that she had been molested on a train heading towards Telok Blangah.

After police investigations, the suspect was arrested in Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 on July 6.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. The suspect, if convicted, may be jailed up to two years, or fined, and is also liable to caning.

The police advise members of the public to stay calm when they encounter such a crime while travelling on public transport.

They should call or inform the bus/train captain or seek help from other commuters immediately.
