Man arrested for robbery at convenience store

SINGAPORE - A 39-year-old man have been arrested by the police for a case of robbery at a shopping centre along Boon Lay Place.

On Aug 10, at around 12.50am, the suspect visited a convenience store at the shopping centre and assaulted the cashier.

In a statement to the media, the police said the man fled the premises with two packets of cigarettes.

The whole incident was captured on CCTV.

Officers conducted ground investigations after receiving the report and spotted the suspect at about 2am on Aug 14.

The 39-year-old was subsequently arrested at Boon Lay Place and will be charged in court on Aug 15.

If convicted, he faces a jail term up of five to 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
