SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for stealing from a vehicle at an open-air car park along Petir Road.

The vehicle owner noticed that the vehicle's window was smashed and his CashCard and some cash had been stolen. He made a police report on Tuesday morning.

Police officers managed to establish the identity of the suspect and conducted an ambush. They managed to arrest the suspect along Bukit Panjang Ring Road on Wednesday at about 4.15am. Preliminary investigations indicate that he is believed to be responsible for other similar cases.

The suspect will be charged in Court for an offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with a jail term of up to 3 years, or a fine, or with both.
