The man, in his 40s, was believed to have been cycling along Clementi Road when he had trouble breathing.
He then stopped to rest at the bus stop in front of Block 343, Clementi Avenue 5.
Police were called to the scene at about 8.30am and found the man sitting motionless at the bus stop.
Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
A nearby resident, who wanted to be known only as Madam Wong, said she was taking her grandson to school at about 8.15am when she saw the man sitting at the parapet behind the bus stop.
"He had his bicycle next to him, so I thought he was just resting," she said.
When The New Paper got to the scene at close to 11am, about half a dozen of the man's family members were gathered at a nearby block. Many of them were teary eyed, but declined to comment when approached.
