Man shot dead outside coffee shop

MALAYSIA - A 44-year-old businessman was shot in the abdomen as he walked out of a Indian Muslim coffee shop at Beverly Hills commercial complex in Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, at about 10.15pm on Saturday.

The man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but died early on Sunday morning.

Police have yet to disclose the identity of the businessman, who they say was just leaving the coffee shop after having drinks with a few friends, reported The Star.

When he left, an unidentified man in a waiting car shot him and immediately sped off.

Police officers in a nearby patrol car heard the gunshot and rushed the man to the hospital.

The police set up road blocks across the city in a bid to capture the assailant.

It is understood that they are also recording the statements of the friends of the businessman.
