Man stabs himself in the chest during argument with girlfriend

SINGAPORE - A man reportedly stabbed himself in the chest during an argument with his girlfriend. According to Lianhe Wanbao, the incident took place at a multi-storey carpark at Block 671A in Woodlands at about 5pm on Tuesday.

According to an eyewitness, the couple was arguing in their car, with the man growing increasingly agitated. He reportedly got out of the car and stabbed himself when his girlfriend was distracted.

He collapsed after the stabbing, shocking his girlfriend. Alarmed, she tried to stop the bleeding and even tried performing CPR to revive him.

Realising something had gone wrong, the eyewitness quickly called the police for help. When rescue personnel arrived on the scene, the man had lost consciousness and was quickly sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.

When Wanbao reporters arrived, they saw a woman in her 30s being questioned by police. She told them that she was unsure how serious her boyfriend's injuries were, and did not wish to comment further.

A spokesperson from the police issued a statement saying a 34-year-old man had been admitted to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in a coma and is still in critical condition.
