A MAN who wanted to skip work lodged a report that he was robbed by four men.
Another used the cash meant to pay rent to buy an iPhone 6.
As a cover-up, he claimed that he was forced to hand over his wallet containing RM4,000 (S$1,300) to four men who threatened him with a knife.
These false police reports have landed them in the soup, reported Sinar Harian.
Nilai police chief Supt Zaldino Zaludin said the 23-year-old man who wanted to play truant on Friday claimed that one of the robbers pointed a pistol at him while another threatened him with a knife in Negri Sembilan.
The robbers purportedly took his wallet containing RM150, besides assaulting him until he passed out.
But there were discrepancies in his story and he admitted that he merely wanted to avoid going to work.
The second case involved a 22-year-old undergraduate who later admitted that he had used the money, which was the rent he collected from his housemates, to buy the iPhone 6.
