Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin abseils down HDB block for new project

SINGAPORE - Videos of Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin abseiling down a HDB block in Choa Chu Kang on Sunday morning have been making its round on social media.

Project Cliffhanger is a newly formed outdoor abseiling interest group set up by the Lam Soon Community Club, and already it has several residents signed up, according to The Straits Times.

Mr Tan was on hand to help kick-start the new adventure interest group in Keat Hong constituency, targeted at younger families living in the area, Channel NewsAsia reported.

Mr Tan, who retired from the Singapore Armed Forces in 2011 holding the rank of Brigadier-General, took to his personal Facebook page to comment on his feat, calling it "fun" and "not as difficult as it seems".

He added that he had also recently abseiled with his National Service men.

Besides his morning activity, which he participated alongside Chua Chu Kang GRC MP and grassroots adviser Zaqy Mohamad, Mr Tan had also conducted a dialogue with residents of Keat Hong constituency according to a post on his Facebook page.

The dialogue focused on issues centred on how to make Singapore a more caring society, The Straits Times reported.

Also with Mr Tan during his third Ministerial Community visit to Keat Hong constituency were Health Minister Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower Dr Amy Khor and Advisor to Keat Hong Grassroots Organisation, Zaqy Mohamad.
