MBS, RWS fined $217,500 in total for breaching casino rules

SINGAPORE - The Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore has taken its first disciplinary act against the two local casino operators and fined them a total of $217,500 this year.

Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) were fined $197,500 and $20,000 respectively, for various breaches of the Casino Control Act this year.

Local news media reported that both casinos were penalised for allowing Singaporeans or permanent residents to enter their casinos without valid entry levies.

Channel NewsAsia said that MBS was also fined an additional $75,000 for allowing an authorised person "to act as a casino worker".

Among its charges, RWS was fined for allowing entry for guests under the age of 21 years old into the casino, added CNA.
