Men attempt break-in in broad daylight

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested two men, aged 40 and 49, for allegedly breaking into a private apartment at Upper Serangoon Road on Wednesday.

A resident of the unit had notified the police slightly after 12pm, when someone tried to force open the sliding doors in the home.

The perpetrators fled without taking anything as they spotted the resident in the flat.

Their identities were established with the help of CCTV footage and they were arrested within 34 hours of the report being lodged.

The suspects were arrested on Thursday night at a hotel in Geylang.

Due to face court on Saturday, they can be jailed for a maximum of two years or fined.
