Ministers to co-chair 6th Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Joint Working Committee Meeting in Beijing

SINGAPORE - Minister for National Development, Khaw Boon Wan, and Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development, Lee Yi Shyan, will visit Beijing, People's Republic of China (PRC), from Apr 1 to 3, 2014.

Mr Khaw will co-chair the 6th Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city Joint Working Committee (JWC) Meeting with Minister Jiang Weixin of the PRC Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on Apr 2, 2014.

The JWC will discuss key work areas for the year ahead based on the Eco-city's refreshed vision, which was endorsed at the Joint Steering Council meeting in October last year.

Under the refreshed vision, the Eco-city aims to become a leader in eco-development, a vibrant model satellite city, and a harmonious city with innovative social management framework.

While in Beijing, Mr Khaw will also call on Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Mr Li Yuanchao.

Mr Khaw is accompanied on this visit by Mr Sam Tan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Community Development, Youth and Sports, Mr Alex Yam, Member of Parliament for Choa Chu Kang GRC, and officials from the Ministry of National Development as well as other government agencies involved in the Eco-city project.
