Missing MH370: PM Lee offers support to KL, Beijing

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong wrote to his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang last Friday to express solidarity and offer support, as the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight continued.

There were many Malaysians on board but the largest group comprised passengers from China, several of whom had studied or worked in Singapore, Mr Lee said.

He said Singapore has sent aircraft and ships to join the search for the missing plane and is ready to provide further support.

"We are cooperating closely with the Malaysian government in its search-and-locate operation, and hope that the missing plane will be located soon," Mr Lee added.

The flight, MH370, dropped off the radar soon after leaving Kuala Lumpur for Beijing more than a week ago.
