It will be a bumper year for babies born next year, when Singapore celebrates its 50th National Day.

Besides a specially packaged SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift hamper, the Republic's newest citizens will get a limited-edition commemorative gift set from POSB.

The bank has put together nine presents in a POSB Smiley Gift Bag. The items are: a diaper bag, a pair of mittens and booties, a plush toy, a coin bank, a height chart, a Bluetooth selfie stick, a 2R picture holder, a "Baby on Board" car sign and a pack of Zappy baby wipes.

The gift bags will be distributed to parents of babies delivered at 10 participating hospitals.

They are: KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Mount Alvernia Hospital, National University Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Parkway East Hospital, Raffles Hospital, Singapore General Hospital and Thomson Medical Centre.

On top of that, POSB will give education grants worth $10,000 to five lucky babies born next year.

As for the official SG50 Baby Jubilee Gift, parents of Singaporean children born next year can register for the gift from the start of next year by logging on to www.nptd.gov.sg/sg50baby
