Mr Lim Hng Kiang to attend G20 Trade Ministers Meeting in Istanbul

SINGAPORE - Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang will be attending the G20 Trade Ministers Meeting (TMM) in Istanbul, Turkey on Oct 6, 2015.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), the ministers will discuss ways to boost global trade so as to promote economic growth and job creation at the meeting.

The focus will be on reducing protectionism, improving trade facilitation and strengthening the multilateral trading system, to help businesses participate more effectively and with lower costs in global value chains.

While in Turkey, Mr Lim will call on Turkey's Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci and discuss the Turkey-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (TRSFTA).

Mr Lim will also meet with Turkish companies and a Singapore delegation that is in Turkey to explore business opportunities on Oct 7, 2015.

Mr Lim will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Enterprise Singapore and the Economic Development Board.
