PETALING JAYA - Police will arrest the mother of a four-year-old child who was believed to have been abused.
The girl died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Monday morning after she was brought there in an unconscious state on Saturday.
"For now we consider the case as abuse but we are still waiting for the post-mortem report. Initial investigations revealed that the child was living with her mother in Jalan Sungai Besi," City deputy CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa said yesterday.
He said that police investigations showed that the mother, who also cared for the child's three other siblings, claimed that the child suffered from epilepsy when she was admitted.
"Our investigations showed that the child was sent to Port Dickson Hospital on Oct 15 for the same complications.
"After receiving treatment, the child was placed in a child care centre in Kuantan as the mother was in the process of claiming custody," said ACP Khairi.
After claiming custody, the mother brought the child to live with her in Teluk Kemang before moving here.
