My point: Bar civil servants from casinos

Since the two casinos were set up three years ago, there has been an increase in gambling-related crimes.

The case involving Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau senior officer Edwin Yeo Seow Hiong is another example as it was revealed that he allegedly gambled away more than $240,000 of his ill-gotten gains in a casino ("CPIB officer accused of embezzling over $1.7m"; last Thursday).

Perhaps it is time that the Civil Service requires civil servants to be barred from casino entry.

Of course, one can argue that civil servants can still go to regional casinos if they want to gamble, but at least they cannot do so on a regular basis.
