I listened to the new National Day song after reading the negative comments it garnered.
At first, I thought it would be cheesy, like the Youth Olympics cheer or the Fun Pack Song from 2011. But I found it to be an updated piece of work, tapping the fad of teen TV musicals.
Composer Elaine Chan and lyricist Selena Tan certainly did a good job. I especially like the racially harmonious visual theme. But the song is rather wordy and the lyrics are quite a mouthful, compared to its predecessors. In any case, thank you, Ms Chan and Ms Tan.
