New bus service from March 16

A NEW bus service will ply between Telok Blangah and Tiong Bahru and Outram MRT stations from March 16.

SBS Transit bus service 121 is a new trunk service that will connect commuters from Ganges Avenue, Kim Tian Road, Telok Blangah Crescent and Telok Blangah Rise to the two train stations.

To operate daily from 6am to 11.30pm from New Bridge Road Bus Terminal, service 121 will ply Outram Road, Zion Road, Ganges Avenue, Lower Delta Road, Tiong Bahru Road, Kim Tian Road, Jalan Bukit Merah, Lower Delta Road and Telok Blangah Way, before looping back via Telok Blangah Crescent and Telok Blangah Rise.

As Zion Road is one-way, the service will ply Outram Road in the return direction.

The new bus service will provide residents with convenient access to amenities such as Singapore General Hospital, Outram Polyclinic, Safra Mount Faber and Tiong Bahru Plaza, as well as markets and food centres along Jalan Bukit Merah and Telok Blangah Crescent.

Schools such as Radin Mas Primary and St Theresa's Convent will also be served.

Service 121 is the 25th new bus service to be rolled out under the billion-dollar Bus Service Enhancement Programme, announced in 2012.

Under the programme, the Government will add about 40 new routes and 550 new buses to beef up the bus network.

The first of these buses were put on the road last year. To date, more than 300 have arrived, with the rest set to join them by year-end.
