New CEO for NParks

SINGAPORE - The chief operating officer of Gardens by the Bay will be the new chief executive of the National Parks Board (NParks).

Mr Kenneth Er, a Public Service Commission scholarship holder and forestry graduate, served as NParks assistant CEO before assuming his appointment at Gardens by the Bay in 2012.

Mr Er, 41, replaces Mr Poon Hong Yuen, who will become Deputy Secretary (Law) (Designate) in the Ministry of Law.

Mr Poon has been NParks CEO since 2010 and helped implement major infrastructure programmes such as destination parks and an islandwide network of park connectors.

Both appointments will take effect next Monday, the National Development Ministry said on Tuesday.

Separately, public hygiene chief Liak Teng Lit is now deputy chairman at the National Environment Agency.

Mr Liak, whose appointment took effect in January, is also group CEO of the Alexandra Health System and chairman of the Public Hygiene Council.
