New Hokkien video gives tips on beating the haze

SINGAPORE - A new Hokkien video "Chase the haze away" was released online on Tuesday, following other music videos in dialect that explained the Pioneer Generation Package and MediShield Life to seniors.

The three-minute video, which was uploaded at around 3pm, can be found on official government YouTube channel govsingapore.

An English video "Tips to protect against the haze" was uploaded on Monday, and has 248 views so far.

While both videos convey similar information, the Hokkien video takes a much lighter tone.

An elderly couple and a coffeeshop "auntie" banter as they trade advice like drinking more water, and limiting strenuous outdoor activities. There are English and Chinese subtitles in the video.

A Hokkien video "The Journey", which starred getai stars Liu Ling Ling and Wang Lei playing characters from the Chinese classic Journey To The West, was a hit when it was released in July. The video on MediShield Life and the Chas scheme clocked up more than 800,000 hits to date.

Teochew and Cantonese videos, also on the Pioneer Generation Package and MediShield Life, were later released.
