New online childcare registration system to give parents 'convenience and peace of mind'

Parents can go online to search for childcare centres and register their interest in up to five centres. Centres will then get email notifications, and can offer places if there are vacancies. If a parent has been offered a childcare place, he can accept this offer or choose to remain in other centres' waitlists.

Here's a statement from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA):

EDCA has introduced a new child care Registration Management System (RMS) that will bring greater convenience to both parents and child care operators.

Accessible online (www.childcarelink.gov.sg) and available in a mobile-friendly version, the system enables parents to search for suitable child care centres for their children and indicate interest to register at their preferred centres. The system also helps child care centres better manage registrations. Parents can register their interest in up to 5 centres at a time. See Annex A for details.

As more parents and centres use the system, it will provide ECDA with more comprehensive demand and supply information which helps in the planning of child care capacity.

In addition, over the next few months, ECDA will facilitate the development of another 16 child care centres, which will provide an additional 1,600 child care places. This is the second batch of sites to be developed by the Anchor Operators (AOPs) since the start of the Enhanced AOP Scheme in January 2014. The centres are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2015.

Speaking on the sideline of a visit to a newly opened Skool4Kidz AOP child care centre, Minister Chan said: "The new system will help parents better identify suitable child care centres for their children, and indicate interest to register in their preferred centres with ease. It will provide parents greater convenience and peace of mind. I encourage parents and centres to use the system, and keep their information up-to-date so that the system can better serve their needs."
