NTU magazine bags international PR excellence award

SINGAPORE - Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has clinched an international public relations excellence award for its integrated magazine, HEY!.

According to a statement from the university, NTU won the Golden World Award, dubbed "the Oscars of the PR world", in the Publications category.

The annual Golden World Awards, organised by the London-based International Public Relations Association (IPRA), is now into its 23rd year.

HEY! features various slices of varsity life as well as inspirational success stories of NTU professors, students and alumni.

The multimedia publication has five key planks - print magazine, iPad magazine, online magazine, YouTube channel and cross-campus video screens.

Besides NTU, other category winners this year include Adobe, Mercedes Benz, Bacardi and Citibank.

"By winning this year's award in its category, NTU Singapore demonstrates powerful PR capabilities, great creativity and an outstanding ability to care about results and achievements," said Christophe Ginisty, IPRA President 2013.

The university publication, produced by NTU's in-house communication team, debuted in November 2011 and is now into its 12th issue.

NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson said the IPRA Golden World Award was a great honour for the university.

"HEY! is a very innovative university publication as it is not just a print magazine but also has iPad and online versions that maximise the unique features of each media platform," he said.

Previously, the institute had also bagged an award for Outstanding Overall Corporate Reputation Programme (Merit Prize) at the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore's 2012 PRISM Awards held last November.
