SINGAPORE - A group of 18 officers from the Police Coast Guard Training School suffered food poisoning after eating catered food.

Following a tip-off, The New Paper went to Singapore General Hospital on Tuesday morning and saw the group at the Accident and Emergency area.

When approached, the officers, who were holding small plastic bags of medicine, declined comment.

They were later seen leaving the hospital in a police van.

A police spokesman confirmed the cases of food poisoning.

"After consuming a catered meal in the morning, 18 officers from the Police Coast Guard Training School were sent for medical attention due to stomach discomfort and diarrhoea," said the spokesman.

"The officers have been discharged and given two days medical leave.

"We are in contact with the National Environment Agency on the matter."

The spokesman declined to reveal the name of the caterer.
