Parliament goes into recess, to reconvene on May 16 with President's address

SINGAPORE - The new session will kick off with an address by President Tony Tan Keng Yam, outlining the Government's priorities, policies and programmes for the rest of its term ahead of the next election, widely expected to be held in 2016.

PROROGATION OF PARLIAMENT

Parliament has been prorogued on April 15, 2014.

The second session of the Twelfth Parliament will be convened with the President's Address on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 8.30pm.

In his Address, the President will announce the priorities, policies and programmes of the Government for the remainder of the current term of office.

After this, the House will debate these policies and programmes in its debate on the Motion of Thanks for the President's Address.
