IPOH - Police have arrested a 43-year-old part-time cook over the murder of a senior citizen in Kampar.

Kampar OCPD Supt Ng Kong Soon said the man was arrested in a car along Jalan Idris at about 9.40am yesterday.

"After taking statements from witnesses and neighbours, the police nabbed the man who fit the description.

"We did not find the murder weapon on the suspect, but investigations are ongoing," he said.

Supt Ng said that at the time of the arrest, the man was seated in the car with his boss who is not connected to the case.

"The suspect is believed to be involved in illegal activities such as betting on horses and money-lending," Supt Ng said.

He said this after a function with the Perak Police Chief Comm Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Hanafi here yesterday.
