Pedestrian Night at Orchard Road this Saturday cancelled because of haze

SINGAPORE - The Pedestrian Night at Orchard Road on Saturday (Oct 3) will be cancelled because of the haze.

In a statement on Thursday, a spokesman for the event said that it will be cancelled "out of consideration for the health and safety of our staff, our visitors and all street performers".

The 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index has stayed in the unhealthy range of 101 to 200 over the last few days.

The spokesman also advised visitors to Orchard Road to stay indoors as much as possible and take necessary precautions.

The in-mall Pedestrian Night promotions and shopping deals will still be on offer to all shoppers.

With the change, the Orchard Road stretch between the Scotts Road/Paterson Road junction and Orchard Road/Bideford Road junction will remain fully open to vehicles from 6pm - 11pm.

The next Pedestrian Night, which is held on the first Saturday of the month, will take place on Nov 7.
