Peeping tom gets five months' jail for 'spying' in toilet

KUALA LUMPUR - A peeping tom, who spied on a graphics manager while she was in a toilet at a mall, has been jailed for five months.

Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin sentenced factory worker Mohamad Gunawan, 23, after he pleaded guilty to peeping on Koong Choy Yoke.

According to the facts of the case, Koong had spotted the top of someone's head peeping from the cubicle next door while she was using the third floor women's toilet in the Intermark Mall on Jalan Tun Razak, at around 8am on April 4.

Kong then called out to the person, who at first refused to exit the stall.

When the person exited, Kong asked why he was in the women's toilet, to which he replied that the men's toilet was full.

She then called the building's security manager, who detained the man and later handed him over to the police.

According to police investigations, Mohamad admitted to following Kong into the toilet to peep at her, but did not manage to make any recordings of her.

Police checked the man's three phones and confirmed that he had not recorded anything in the toilet.
