PM Lee to attend Asean-Republic of Korea commemorative summit in Busan

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be visiting the Republic of Korea from Wednesday to Friday to attend the Asean-Republic of Korea (Asean-Rok) commemorative summit meeting in Busan, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a statement.

The gathering is to mark 25 years of dialogue relations between Asean and South Korea, where they will review cooperation and dicuss future directions between the two regions, and exchange views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Mr Lee will also hold bilateral talks with South Korean President Park Geun-hye and stop in Seoul to meet mayor Park Won-soon, as well as officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and The Seoul Institute on transport management, reforms and policies.

He will be accompanied by his wife, Ms Ho Ching, as well as senior officials from MFA.

During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister for the period.
