PM Lee extends deadline to blogger over letter of demand

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has agreed to extend the deadline for blogger Roy Ngerng Yi Ling to respond to a letter of demand from Mr Lee's lawyer over a defamatory blog post, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Press Secretary on Wednesday.

Mr Ngerng had published a blog post accusing the Government of "misappropriating" CPF funds.

The Straits Times reported yesterday that the health-care worker took down the blog post on Monday night, but is still deciding how he should respond to the letter of demand.

Said the statement: "In response to media queries, the Press Secretary to PM Lee confirmed that on Tuesday, May 20, a formal request for an extension of the deadline was received.

"PM has agreed to extend the deadline for Mr Ngerng to respond to 5pm, on Friday, May 23, 2014."
